I’ve been using OneNote for over 10 years now. It’s been such a great platform for me to make my professional and personal worlds more productive and better organised.

For those just jumping into OneNote, or those who want to upskill a little, here’s a list of my top tips for this versatile and flexible platform.

  1. Always create in Office 365 > OneDrive > New OneNote then once it has opened in your browser > ‘open in OneNote’ to sync it to your device.
  2. Once you have opened your OneNote onto your computer, It lives on your computer. When you open the OneNote app your ‘bookshelf’ will have all your previously synced notebooksO waiting.
  3. Pin your OneNote icon to taskbar (right click on the icon when OneNote is open). Once pinned you just need to click to open OneNote and get started.
  4. Not syncing? Reopen from in office 365 to clear the connection.
  5. Want your OneNote to be more visually appealing? Use Canva to make images for your OneNote.
  6. Open your admin OneNote on your phone too for easy note taking that syncs across devices.
  7. Use font colours and styles to make your OneNote visually appealing.
  8. Use sub pages to make your OneNote easier to navigate.
  9. Install the OneNote web clipper tool and save sites directly to pages in a specified OneNote.
